With two brothers and close cousins also boys, Marion grew up a bit of a tomboy. Sport and movement were a huge part of her childhood and development. Similar to many Australians, she learnt to swim at a young age, and was fortunate to also be exposed to other fantastic sports such as gymnastics, athletics and netball.
It was swimming and netball that Marion excelled in most, going on to compete at national level around the country and being selected into various talent squads.
Although lifting weights was part of her weekly ‘dry land’ training to compliment pool training, it wasn’t until Marions early 20’s that she really took an interest in weightlifting as a sport and potential career. She doesn’t settle for average and fosters a community of discipline, hard work, commitment and fun!
