I’m sporadic at best on the socials as I’m mor I’m sporadic at best on the socials as I’m more focused over here in my little corner gym in Coogee on helping people get kick-ass gainz and
those with grumpy backs get out of pain.
However, I filmed this for my groupies this afternoon and posted it in their group whats app chats with the following : Hey fam, this is my second round of 6 of 6/4/2 deadlifts (i’m doing at diff program to you guys) I thought I would film it for you to watch how I go through the exact same sequence/ritual every single time and that all of the lifts look the same. Practice makes perfect and also lifting at lighter weights for more reps with impeccable form is the way forward 👩‍🏫

Last week we had workshops in the barbell squat (covering front and back) and in the deadlift pattern (block pulls). This week is week 1 of a 4 week intensification (strength phase) in the above with adaptations (of-course) for those with a younger training age/and or grumpy bits 💪🔥🦵🔥
When @annettetrickett and I had our initial phone When @annettetrickett and I had our initial phone chat about a year ago she told me that due to chrondomalasia patellae (damage to the cartilage under the kneecap) the medical professionals at the time made the decision to remove Annette’s patella’s. One was taken out when she was 14 the other at 16. This was a new one for me! I remember thinking 🤔 Wow, this lady has no knee caps! How does she stabilise and get around??? I always research the things I have no experience of but in the end it always, always comes back to my personal training mantra of forging excellence in movement patterns in order to achieve the outcome the client and I are looking for. I apply what i know of human movement and how I get people stable and strong and then I apply it to the individual making sure I regress and adapt where necessary for the specific human I am working with. With Annette we obviously had to be most mindful with knee dominant movements (flexion / extension around the knee joint). Annette’s quads were extremely weak and not firing. She couldn’t squat, lunge or (in those early days) even have her knees move over her toes without pain. So we started off with exercises like wall sits to fire them quads up with no stability required. There have obviously been many other progressions and prescribed exercises between then and now but here we are a year later and….. check her out performing front foot elevated split squats (FFESS) earlier on this morning! The human body is absolutely amazing as is Annette. She turns up consistently to sessions and does everything I have ask her to do. It is such a bloody honour and privilege to work with her and I cannot wait to see what we are going to achieve in the future. We are only just getting started. whoopa

At the end of last year like many people I was tot At the end of last year like many people I was totally and utterly physically, emotionally and mentally spent. I was still putting into practice all of my self-care rituals (plus way too much caffeine if i’m honest) to get me through but they were not really creating an impact as what I desperately needed was a vacation and break from work. I think it’s pretty obvious I love what I do but that doesn’t mean I don’t need a holiday. I took what I needed over the xmas break and came back refreshed in all the areas I desperately needed. I’m down to one piccolo ☕️ a day and feel back to centre. I decided to add 3x a week early morning soft sand runs at a low intensity steady state (LISS cardio). This means that on monday, wed and friday i wake up at 4.15am. This gives me enough time to do my shuffle on the sand , grab my ☕️, shower and get to the gym for the 6.00am groups. I have created the habit of this now and it’s simply non-negotiable. I am not doing this for my physical health (although LISS cardio has a shit load of physical benefits), no, it is for my mental health. The endorphins I feel and the clarity of thought and my mood is simply so positive after my meander on the sand that I know this is something that I will continue for the calendar year (which was the intention I set for my self in early jan) and beyond. There was a time in my life that 4.00amish meant so was either getting up for a flight or still out or coming home from a club. I have zero regrets from my party days but I gotta admit I do love the feeling of being up and about when most are punching out z’s…. but more than that my mental health gets a boost. Sometimes you simply have got to make the decision to create change and stick to your promise to yourself and make that shit non-negotiable. Just get it done. Wanted to share in the hope it inspires one of you to create a shift and a new habit. jibber jabber over n out Lisa

Delighted

I am delighted with Sally’s training sessions – I really appreciate her approach which was to go back to basics for each exercise and ensure I knew how to recruit the right muscles – then build up the weights.  I can feel I’m getting stronger. Plus my hip pain (caused by under active glutes) has View Full →
